Lori Smith plays a vital role in helping individuals navigate the challenges of rebuilding their lives. With compassion, patience, and a heart for service, she works directly with participants to connect them to essential community resources and day-to-day support systems.
Her role goes far beyond transportation. Lori assists individuals with housing applications, employment resources, medical appointments, benefit navigation, identification recovery, and access to basic needs that many people struggling with homelessness or reentry often find overwhelming to manage alone.
What makes Lori especially valuable to Jeremiah is her willingness to meet people where they are without judgment. She understands that many individuals entering recovery or transitional housing feel lost, discouraged, and unsupported. Through consistency, encouragement, and practical guidance, she helps restore confidence and stability one step at a time.
Her dedication to serving others, combined with her strong knowledge of local resources and genuine compassion for people, makes her an essential part of the Jeremiah Transitional Housing & Resource Center team.

Australia Willhite brings a deeply personal understanding of trauma, healing, and emotional restoration to the Jeremiah team. Having overcome childhood trauma and her own past struggles with addiction, she now uses her testimony, healing journey, and hard-earned wisdom to help others confront the pain beneath their patterns.
Her passion lies in helping individuals identify and work through the emotional wounds, trauma responses, and mental health barriers that often fuel destructive behaviors and keep people stuck in cycles of pain.
Australia’s approach centers on healing from within—guiding people toward self-awareness, emotional stability, inner strength, and renewed purpose. She understands firsthand that true transformation begins when a person addresses not just what they do, but why they do it.
What makes her advocacy powerful is that it comes from lived experience, compassion, and a genuine calling to help others heal in the areas where she once needed healing herself.

Restoring broken lives

Restoring broken lives

The story.....

The story....

Helping You Carry What Feels Too Heavy

From Brokenness to Becoming

More Than Housing—A Path to Stability

Our Approach

Jeremiah Transitional Housing & Resource Center was created out of lived experience, faith, and a deep calling to restore lives impacted by homelessness, incarceration, addiction, and instability.
We believe real change happens when housing, accountability, and holistic support work together. A bed alone is not enough—true stability requires guidance, structure, and people who genuinely care.
We are currently hosting recovery support meetings in Kalamazoo, providing a safe space for individuals to begin their journey toward stability and healing.
At the same time, we are actively working toward securing our first transitional housing property, building partnerships, and preparing to expand our services to include structured housing and life development programs.
This work was born out of lived experience and nearly two decades of sustained recovery. Everything we build comes from what has been learned, survived, and overcome—and is now being used to help others do the same.

Our Programs

Jeremiah Transitional Housing & Resource Center is preparing to launch a structured 3–6 month transitional housing program for adults ages 18 and older, including:
• Individuals exiting incarceration
• Individuals in recovery
• Individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability
• Veterans rebuilding their lives

Our model will provide:
• Safe, structured transitional housing
• Individualized stabilization and reentry planning
• Life skills development (budgeting, accountability, routines)
• Employment readiness and community workforce connection
• Recovery support and NA participation encouragement
• Assistance obtaining ID, benefits, healthcare, and transportation
• Faith-based encouragement offered without coercion
Our goal is to provide more than housing — we will provide direction, accountability, and a clear pathway to permanent stability.

Our Progress

Jeremiah Transitional Housing & Resource Center is currently in its development phase. We are actively building strategic partnerships, securing property, and finalizing funding to launch our first four-bed transitional home in Parchment.
We are accepting partnership inquiries and community support as we prepare to open our doors.

What Makes Us Different

Jeremiah Transitional Housing & Resource Center goes beyond providing shelter. We focus on rebuilding lives from the inside out.
Our program is led by individuals with lived experience in addiction, incarceration, trauma, homelessness, and recovery—people who understand the journey because they have walked it themselves.
We address the root causes behind instability by combining housing with mentorship, recovery coaching, mental and emotional support, life-skills development, workforce readiness, and resource navigation.
At Jeremiah, we do not believe a bed alone changes lives.
We believe healing, accountability, structure, and genuine support create lasting transformation.
We don’t just provide housing—
we help rebuild people.
